Jack Shainman Gallery - New York - USA

Jack Shainman Gallery was incorporated in 1984. Its first location was in Washington DC. Soon after opening, the gallery relocated to New York City occupying a space in the East Village before moving to 560 Broadway in Soho and then to its current location at 513 West 20th Street in Chelsea in 1997.
The focus of the gallery, since its inception over 25 years ago, is to exhibit, represent, and champion artists from around the world, in particular artists from Africa, East Asia, and North America, by mounting major exhibitions of their work in the gallery, presenting artworks at important art fairs, securing museum exhibitions, and publishing major catalogues with full-color reproductions and scholarly essays on their artwork. Represented artists employ all mediums, with a tendency towards conceptual as well as politically and socially engaged artwork. The gallery presents approximately 15 exhibitions a year and participates in major art fairs including Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, and The Armory Show. The gallery is a member of the Art Dealers Association of America.

Founded in 1970, Michelle Rosenfeld Gallery is a family owned gallery focusing on modern and contemporary Masters of the 20th and 21st centuries.
We provide the public and our private clients with a broad range of services including; advisory, appraisals, market analysis, placement, lighting, framing and restoration. For each work of art our expert staff conducts thorough research, documentation, provenance, exhibition history, condition and literature. Our gallery can assist with the selection and purchase of an individual piece or develop a cohesive collection. We exercise the utmost discretion with each and every client. Founded in 1989 by Michael Rosenfeld and located in the New York Gallery Building on West 57th Street, Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, LLC specializes in twentieth-century American art. In 1992, halley k harrisburg joined the gallery, and since then, she and Michael Rosenfeld have worked together to advance and expand the canon of American art. The Gallery’s core mission is two-fold: to promote important movements within the history of art in the United States while also increasing the visibility of under-recognized American artists. As art historians with multi-faceted interests, Michael Rosenfeld and halley k harrisburg have developed a diverse and challenging exhibition program that consistently presents museum-quality historical and contemporary artworks with a fresh sensibility. In 2000, the Gallery was accepted into the Art Dealers Association of America.
To date, Michael Rosenfeld Gallery has mounted over 130 exhibitions, seventy of which have been solo shows for such artists as Romare Bearden, Beauford Delaney, Jay DeFeo, William H. Johnson, Blanche Lazzell, Norman Lewis, Charles Shaw, Pavel Tchelitchew, Alma Thomas, and Charles White. Thematic group exhibitions of early American abstraction, realism, surrealism, abstract expressionism, and social realism also continue to offer new perspectives on American modernism. Many Gallery exhibitions have traveled to distinguished institutions throughout the United States, including the Columbus Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Greenville County Museum of Art, the Long Beach Museum of Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Norton Museum of Art, and the Tubman African American Museum. Crucially, the Gallery’s exhibitions have played a significant role in highlighting the achievements of artists who had historically been marginalized in the mainstream art world due to both active and passive discrimination on the basis of race and gender.

Andrea Rosen Gallery was inaugurated in January, 1990 with a seminal exhibition of work by Felix Gonzalez-Torres. This exhibition would set the pace and agenda for the entire program of the gallery; conceptually rigorous, fully aware of the responsibility of putting ones subjectivity in the public realm and unafraid of actually being beautiful.
It has always been the goal of the gallery to retain a specific territory for each artist that we represent. What defines the artists as a group is that each, independently, is fully responsible to the medium of their choice and is fully questioning of the role that art plays in the contemporary social-political, and/or cultural arena.
We see the responsibility of the gallery as three fold; to work for the long term development of each artists career, acting as a liaison to international galleries and museums as well as placing works in collections; to create an historical archive for each artist; and to act as an accessible public space in which the exhibitions become an exemplary gesture of the power of subjectivity to the audience at large.
