Fondation Jean Luc Lagardère

An engineer by training (Supélec, 1951), Jean-Luc Lagardère was a champion. He approached life like an athlete, with passion, determination, focus and rigour in his work. As an athlete, he accepted defeat – but never twice for the same reason. Mr. Lagardère was a man who valued dialogue. He did not rule by decree, but made decisions after lengthy discussion and, once a decision was made, he delegated responsibility with full confidence.
Mr. Lagardère had a profound sense of connection with other people. He put constant emphasis on team spirit, convinced that a woman or man could not change things in isolation. “The grandeur of a profession resides, above all, in the unity of its people,” he said, quoting French writer Antoine de Saint Exupéry. The same conviction underlay his attachment to the Foundation. Supporting young talent and helping vulnerable populations was, for Mr. Lagardère, a true imperative.

Veritable cultural centre, the foundation also houses a library where you can loose yourself in the beauty of the rare and limited edition books. Signed examples of catalogues that accompany each exhibition, creative guides and professional albums await you on the first floor.
You must not miss the famous « Soirées Nomades », proposed every Wednesday and Thursday evening. On the program: happenings, gustative visits, performances, concerts, poetry sessions and other creative inventions. The rendezvous super trendy for promising talents.

Fondation d'entreprise Ricard

For more than ten years, the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard for contemporary art, presided by Philippe Savinel and managed by Colette Barbier, has carried on the sponsorship of the Ricard corporation in support of young creation in the domain of plastic arts.
This commitment to the young French art scene, initiated by Paul Ricard, a precursor in terms of cultural patronage, has just been distinguished with the medal of “Grand Mécène du Ministère de la Culture.” The distinction honors the support of the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard to a whole generation of emerging artists to whom it has given the means to produce and show their projects in a suitable exhibition space, redesigned in 2007 by architects Jakob+MacFarlane. “Our project for the exhibition space was inspired by the values that characterize the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard: showcasing the work of artists by creating a separate world for them,” Jakob+MacFarlane insisted.
This space, located at 12, rue Boissy d’Anglas in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, can accommodate the diversity of activities organized by the Fondation in support of the young contemporary creation: exhibitions, lectures, Fondation d’entreprise Ricard Award.

Stichting Magritte

On 11th October the René Lacoste Foundation celabrated the end of its first year.
It was by passion that René Lacoste chose tennis, turning his back on promising scientific studies. The passionate, fiercely hard-working and talented man that he was put sport in the very foreground of his values in life. During his existence, this great champion, but also this great man, never ceased to share this passion for sport, committed to giving several young people in his entourage their chance and often following them personally.
By creating the René Lacoste Foundation today, on the tenth anniversary of his death, the family business that is Lacoste SA wishes to pursue the works of its founder, in the respect of his values and sporting ideals.
The main ambition of the René Lacoste Foundation, attached to the Fondation de France, is to help young people from all over to find a new way through sport, to help them discover team spirit, motivation, how to surpass themselves, and a fighting spirit while respecting the adversary and in this way, passing on the values in which René Lacoste believed so strongly.

Brigitte Bardot Foundation

For many years the Brigitte Bardot Foundation has evolved and leads a stronger battle in favour of pet and wild animal protection in the world.
Today the Brigitte Bardot Foundation has over 57 000 donators living in over 60 different countries and also 323 inspectors. The head quarters are in Paris and are run by 30 employees. The Foundation works directly on the field (help to refuges, animal rescue, stray cat sterilization campaigns…)It also intervenes at the judicial level, with the help of inspectors spread out all over France.
Abroad, the Foundation created a sanctuary for bears in Bulgaria, set up an itinerant clinic for East European countries…
Mobile advertising, media, interviews, press releases, demonstrations, dispatches and petitions and all communications networks are mobilised to denounce again and again.
The Brigitte Bardot Foundation takes an active part in several coalitions to reinforce its role. These coalitions unite major international associations for animal protection in order to join forces to lead a stronger purpose!
We are indeed members of Eurogroup for animal Welfare, an association that intervenes at the European level to legally reinforce animal welfare (www.eurogroupanimalwelfare.org). We also play an active part in GAWC (Global Anti-Whaling Campaign) that works against whale hunting (www.whalewatch.org).We have decided to join the Fur Free Alliance (www.infurmation.com) to denounce and inform people of atrocities concerning fur. In France we struggle on the side of the “Fédération de Liaisons Anti-Corrida” (www.anti.corrida.free.fr) that strives to limit bull fights.

Stichting Lezen

Stichting Lezen is vandaag 10 mensen sterk.

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was established in 1987. In accordance with Andy Warhol's will, its mission is the advancement of the visual arts.
The Foundation's objective is to foster innovative artistic expression and the creative process by encouraging and supporting cultural organizations that in turn, directly or indirectly, support artists and their work. The Foundation values the contribution these organizations make to artists and audiences and to society as a whole by supporting, exhibiting and interpreting a broad spectrum of contemporary artistic practice.
The Foundation is focused primarily on supporting work of a challenging and often experimental nature, while noting that the interpretation of those terms may vary from place to place and culture to culture. In this regard the Foundation encourages curatorial research leading to new scholarship in the field of contemporary art.
The Foundation is committed to the precept that the arts are essential to an open, enlightened democracy. It therefore seeks to advance an inclusive cultural dialogue by providing resources to organizations that support artists reflecting a diverse society and by affirming that freedom of artistic expression is fundamental to such a society and must be vigorously protected. To advance these values, grants are awarded to not-for-profit organizations in the United States and occasionally abroad under specific guidelines.

Jacques-Edouard Berger Foundation

Jacques-Edouard Berger, born in 1945, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in the fall of 1993, midway in a career which had taken him by then to the four corners of the earth. From his earliest years on, his life had been totally absorbed by the pursuit of art and beauty. During a period as a curator of the Museum of Fine Arts in Lausanne, he was already active in organizing exhibitions and writing many articles and prefaces. But the world at large beckoned and, leaving his moorings, he set out and spent many months each year in traveling all over the world. He was particularly attracted to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Burma, etc., yet never neglected his European heritage as mirrored and celebrated in countless museums and galleries in Europe and the United States.
As the artistic leader and guide of numerous groups of eager admirers with whom he shared his vision and insights, he succeeded, over time, in creating a collection of well over 125,000 color slides, his own photographs, capturing the masterpieces that quickened his emotions. In turn, this unique treasure of his personal discoveries served to illustrate and animate the series of lectures he would give, between travels, to an ever growing following, lectures that, in focusing on the powerful revelation hidden in the works of art, sought to provide a veritable initiation. Two books "Pierres d'Egypte" and "L'oeil et l'éternité" also attest to this original approach and the acumen of his intuition.
The profound sorrow and distress caused by his untimely death prompted number of his friends and admirers to create the Foundation that bears his name and whose principal purpose is to promulgate the discovery and love of art.
