LMAKptojects - New York - USA

LMAKprojects was founded by Louky Keijsers Koning in 2005. The gallery's interest lies in the commitment to the artist's process and dedication to their thoughts and production. Introducing collectors to new horizons through visuals, sound or concept. As a gallery we believe in open communication and developing relations between the viewer and the art. LMAKprojects is known for its exhibitions with international allure and focusing on inter-disciplinary practices.

LMAKprojects started its operation with two spaces: one in Chelsea (main gallery space) and one in Williamsburg (project space) which focused on events like lectures, performances and screenings. The exchange allowed for a very vivid atmosphere and a hybrid program that brought artists and collectors together.

In October of 2008 LMAKprojects relocated their Chelsea-space to the new gallery area in the Lower East Side (LES). The new ground floor space features two levels with the first floor being solely dedicated to exhibitions, and downstairs for office and private viewing. The new location allows for a focused program and an accessible neighborhood to welcome collectors.

Lio Malca - New York - USA

Since embarking in the New York art world in the early 1990ʼs, Lio Malca has specialized in secondary market works by Contemporary and Modern Masters. In 1994, operating as Malca Fine Art, Lio started to show part of his young collection of work by Jean-Michel Basquiat with the exhibition called ʻTwo Centsʼ; becoming a key player in establishing his early market. ʻTwo Centsʼ was a traveling show viewed in many different colleges through out the United States from 1994 until 1997, and it included works by Basquiat and selected poems by Kevin Young.

In 1997, simultaneously to the Keith Haring retrospective at the Whitney Museum in New York,
Lio produced the show ʻIn Your Faceʼ. This show took place in a townhouse across from the museum, including works of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf. Lio inaugurated, with these 3 artists, what would become his specialty for the next decade and beyond.

The success of the show allowed it to travel to Japan to be exhibited at the Kirin Plaza, Osaka. He has since become a key lender and advisor to Basquiat and Haring exhibitions in the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, South Africa, and elsewhere. To this day, estates, museums, and auction houses seek out for his opinion on the value, authenticity, and provenance of Basquiat and Haring artwork.

As he contributed to the markets of Basquiat, Haring, and Scharf, Lio Malca continued to invest in emerging markets throughout the 1990ʼs, working closely with established art dealers and galleries, and supporting artists directly. Lio recognized the talent of some of todayʼs worldwide-recognized artists at a very early stage of their careers, Vik Muniz among them. In the last decade, Lio has created an eclectic art collection that comprises a wide range of artists: from the 80ʼs until todayʼs most current, cutting edge and progressive artists to be found – Brody Condon, Evan Penny, Hung Chi Peng, Mark Ryden, selected artists from the Royal Art Lodge Group and others.

In 2006, Lio moved his business from Soho to the heart of the Chelsea art district, and opened a 3,000 square-foot private gallery under the name LIO MALCA. The new gallery showcases the work of a carefully selected roster of Modern and Contemporary Masters, among we can name Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, George Condo, Kenny Scharf, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and, Nobuyoshi Araki.

As a whole, LIO MALCAʼs program, as well as his collection, is socially progressive and visually commanding, with an international scope.

Joshua Liner Gallery - New York - USA

Founded in 2008 in New York City’s Chelsea Arts District, Joshua Liner Gallery presents an exciting roster of established and emerging artists from North America, Asia, and Europe.

These fresh voices engage with the issues of today—globalism, new technology, politics, contemporary urban society, the environment—yet in dynamic dialogue with the histories and aesthetics of the past. In an eclectic range of mediums and approaches, gallery artists reveal influences as disparate as the urban street, Asian pop culture, folk art, music and sound theory, the Old Masters, advertising, and digital design. The work of gallery artists is stylistically diverse, featuring figurative realism, surrealist and futurist fantasy, and geometric abstraction, among other offerings.

Joshua Liner Gallery represents the leading edge of contemporary art practices—new media, mixed-media sculpture, and collective models of production—as well as a focused program of contemporary easel painting. Above all, gallery artists reflect the cultural crosscurrents and decentralized reality of artmaking today.

With two discrete exhibition areas under one roof, Joshua Liner Gallery presents artists in solo and paired exhibitions, with additional group exhibitions in winter and summer. Opening receptions are held on Thursday evenings at the gallery’s West 28th Street location. Along with its annual program of exhibitions, the gallery also participates in the PULSE art fairs in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, as well as international contemporary art fairs.

Jonathan LeVine Gallery - New York - USA

Jonathan LeVine Gallery exhibits a genre of work influenced by illustration, comic books, graffiti, street art and pop culture imagery. We represent a mix of emerging and mid-career level artists with an emphasis on cultivating new talent and creating an environment where artists can further develop their work. Stylistic and ideological tendencies shared by our artists create a fluid continuity within our program. Dissatisfaction with the conventional definitions of art and art making, an attraction to alternative subcultures and the creative energy inspired by the Do it Yourself ethic acts as a common thread. The works produced are primarily figurative with a strong sense of narration - the artist as storyteller.

The DIY attitude has helped shape our gallery's commitment to offering our space as one that encourages exploration. Bridging the gap between exhibiting artwork in the gallery setting, and ephemerally on the street, the challenge often faced by street artists is how to translate their imagery into a "whitebox" environment from it's context within the urban landscape. At Jonathan LeVine Gallery, artists are given complete freedom to fill the space with large scale pieces and incorporate the gallery walls into their work through complex and inventive installations. Past exhibitions have included alternative spaces in DUMBO, Brooklyn and mural projects throughout the city.

Knoedler & Company - New York - USA

For over 160 years, Knoedler & Company has had an enduring role in the history of American art dealing. The name “Knoedler” spans three centuries, and over the course of time affiliated living artists have extended from Frederic E. Church (the Hudson River School) to Helen Frankenthaler (the New York School). The gallery was established in lower Manhattan in 1846 by Michael Knoedler, who was then acting on behalf of Goupil & Company, the renowned French firm of engravers. In the beginning, our dealings were primarily in prints and artist's materials.

The gallery’s annotated sales and stock books, dating from the mid-19th century, tell a fascinating story that runs parallel to the growth of New York City and of the country as a whole. The immense industrial expansion and new era of the railroad that followed the Civil War (at a time when Knoedler traded paintings for gold) made a significant impact upon the world of art. Many of our clients, since that period, are still familiar to the current generation as founders of great American fortunes: the Vanderbilt family, the Astors, Henry M. Flagler, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe, H.O. and Louisine Havemeyer, the Rockefeller family, Andrew and Paul Mellon, Robert Sterling Clark and Stephen Clark, Henry Clay Frick, and others. Their patronage, in turn, established some of our nation's most important art institutions.

As our gallery grew, so too has its extensive art library, considered to be among the finest in private hands. Actively expanding, the Knoedler Library is currently comprised of more than 60,000 volumes and provides the gallery with an invaluable research support.

Today, as in the past, we champion the art of our time—representing a select group of post-war and contemporary artists, estates, and foundations. With dedication to our exhibition program and publications, we also continue to present painting, sculpture, and photography through special loan exhibitions, collaborative projects, and invitationals. As advocates for the artist, we likewise guide and educate the collector. Our long-term associations with artists, and those who represent them, are a constant source of gratification and pride.
