Ricco Maresca Gallery - New York - USA

RICCO/MARESCA was founded in 1979 on Broome Street in New York’s then-emerging SoHo gallery district. The gallery relocated to TriBeCa in the 1980s, then later moved to Wooster Street in SoHo, which by then had become a well-developed center of contemporary-art galleries. In 1997, Ricco/Maresca became one of the first galleries to become established in the new Chelsea art district. The gallery is currently located at 529 West 20th Street.

Following in the footsteps of the legendary New York dealer Sidney Janis, Ricco/Maresca has championed and showcased the art of self-taught masters working outside the art-historical mainstream. The gallery focuses both on significant contemporary art in various media and on historically important American art of the 20th century.

Over a period of 25 years, with publishing partners that have included Alfred A. Knopf, Bulfinch Press, Little, Brown and Company, and Pomegranate Press, among others, Ricco/Maresca has produced books that have helped blur the lines that traditionally have separated conventional art-historical categories and the vernacular-art category.

The gallery is a participant in the Armory Show, New York; Art Chicago; Scope New York; Scope Miami; AIPAD and the PINTA Modern and Contemporary Latin-American Art Show, New York. The gallery works closely with major museums and collectors, and offers services that range from collection management to installation design and conservation.

Soufer Gallery - New York - USA

Soufer Gallery was established in November of 1977 when it opened its doors at the present location. Under the direction of Mrs. Mahboubeh Soufer, the gallery’s focus was primarily on French contemporary artists. During the 1980’s the gallery’s emphasis shifted to French Post-Impressionists. For over twenty years this has been a central focus of the gallery, specializing in the works of Raoul Dufy, Maurice Utrillo, Andre Lhote and their contemporaries.

Rozita Shay joined Soufer Gallery in 1987 while pursuing her studies, and has been pivotal in helping Mahboubeh Soufer define her collection. She has been the Director at Soufer Gallery for the past fifteen years.

Subsequently, the focus shifted to include German Expressionists, specifically concentrating on the work of George Grosz. Among the many memorable exhibitions, were extensive and comprehensive shows of Max Beckmann’s etchings and Ernst Barlach’s sculptures.

Soufer Gallery usually displays works from its extensive inventory holdings, and on occasion does hold special exhibitions. These exhibitions generally focus upon a particular contemporary artist such as Silas Shabelewska and Brother Thomas.

Skarsredt Gallery - New York - USA

Skarstedt Gallery was founded in 1994 by Per Skarstedt to mount historical exhibitions of the Contemporary American and European artists that had become the core of his specialty as a private dealer and gallerist in Stockholm, Sweden and New York City in the late 1980's and early 1990's.

The philosophical approach of the gallery is based on the long-term nature of our client relationships. For the past twelve years, before the inception of the gallery, Mr. Skarstedt has been advising important collections worldwide. This has cultivated the necessary relationships with the collectors and artists in order to have significant influence on the secondary market.

Since the onset of the gallery, the artwork shown at Skarstedt Gallery has been a constant dialogue and criticism of popular culture of the late Twentieth Century. Though the work is diverse in its presentation and representation, there is a constant exploration of identity, originality, authorship, and media all of which make up the essence of postmodern thought and critical theory of our times.

Schillay Fine Art - New York - USA

Schillay Fine Art and Richard Schillay have carried on and expanded the art dealing tradition begun by Richard's father, M. Edwin Schillay. For decades after World War II, M. Edwin Schillay was the foremost dealer of 19th Century British art. He spearheaded the introduction to America of Victorian paintings on a large scale - long before Victorian art gained today's aesthetic appreciation. Today, Schillay Fine Art has greatly expanded its interests and offering - well into the fields of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Modern art, while still offering fine examples of 19th Century academic work.

The gallery has been responsible for the placement of many works in important museum and private collections. The gallery also takes particular pride in selecting and offering schools of art that is, today, undeservedly neglected and present excellent collecting opportunities for their clients.
