Peter Freeman Inc. - New York - USA

Peter Freeman, Inc. was founded in 1990 to specialize in important paintings, sculptures, and drawings of the 20th century, with a particular focus on early Pop and Minimal works. The gallery is now as deeply involved with contemporary art, and represents Silvia Bächli, Mel Bochner, Alex Hay, Michael Heizer, Helen Mirra, Charlotte Posenenske, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Frank Stella, Franz Erhard Walther, Richard Wentworth, and commissions by Richard Serra. We present five exhibitions each year, of both new work and of historical bodies of work by major artists, focused shows exploring significant movements, themes and ideas that have influenced and defined recent culture.

The historic works handled by the gallery over the past nineteen years are broad ranging and can often be defined by their rarity and significance. For this reason, much of our business has been with museums.

Peter Freeman has also begun to publish scholarly books, including a catalogue raisonné Robert Mangold: Early Works, with text by Robert Storr; the first US catalogue on the works of Charlotte Posnenske; Medardo Rosso with an essay by Sharon Hecker and the survey James Ensor: Paintings, with text by Xavier Tricot.
