After having worked for two years as the Director of Christie’s Contemporary Art in New York, a subsidiary of Christie’s Manson and Wood, Armand Bartos founded his eponymous art dealing company in 1982. During a career of almost three decades, he has placed work in major private collections as well as many museums, including MoMA, the National Gallery in Washington, DC, LACMA, The Ludwig Collection, and the Lembach Staatliche Galerie. With a particular focus on post-war abstraction, Armand has access to major works of art from the 20th Century. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sculpture Center from 1989 through 2001, and Chair Emeritus through 2009. He has been a member of the Columbia University Art Advisory Council since 1992. Beginning in 1985, Armand became a certified appraiser and member of the Appraisers Association of America.
